SaddleBrooke Greenware Club Classes for 2009

Classes are a great way to learn new techniques as well as to discover products relating to ceramics that perhaps you’ve never used.

We have now posted in the room a tentative schedule of classes for the next six months. Please come into the room and take a look.

You may sign up for classes 30 days before the class date. The Room Monitor will have an envelope for the class where you can list your name and phone number. You must also pay for the class at the time you sign up.

Please note: Because we no longer charge a sitting fee, please do not expect a refund if you miss the class. Our class costs are minimal and only cover the cost of paints. The teachers buy paints based on the number of people who have signed up and, if you don’t show up, the teachers should not be penalized financially.

Unless specified, assume that the class begins at 10:00 AM and will be finished at or before 3:00 PM.

Element and Crystal Class Barb Sollenberger You need to get with Barb to make arrangements to order your elements and crystals. For class a cleaned and fired to bisque piece is needed. You may use molds 712, 713, 606, 644, 656, 519, 627, 620, or 612

101 class in slab rolling Charli Jackson & Don Meyer Teaching principles of slab rolling, clay types, how to make good joints of clay and drying and support of finished piece. Class will make a small casserole dish.

Cheesecloth project Barb Sollenberger You may use molds 640, 542, 711, 519. 667, 703. & 610. Pourers will hold pieces for Barb so that that will be wrapped and cool stored.

Airbrushing class By David Hoff David Hoff - professional ceramist This class is an intensive course on the basis of airbrushing and techniques. There will be three projects done the first day. This will include a shaded vase, a large animal and a bird type figure

Airbrushing class By David Hoff David Hoff - professional ceramist This is a course in airbrush techniques and design painting. Two projects will be done on this day. One will be an airbrushed pieced that is then scraffitied and brush washed to create flowers. The second will be eith the sunset scene or the wisteria vine.

French Dimension Fish plate Minou Mueller For this class you will need to order the fish mold # 403. Please do it well in advance since we only have one mold. Your piece will need to be cleaned greenware for the class. Other supplies you will need are: a SEA SPONGE, fine tipped sharpie pen, pencil, scissors.

Tues, 6/1/10 Faux Raku Glazing Barb Sollenberger

This is a project done with Cooper adventure and fired to a higher glaze firing. Wonderful variation in color is exhibited

Sat, 6/26/10 Earthy Couture Eve Fly

Eve will teach you to create a couture vase with lid that will add varaition to your home decorations. The project will include purchasing the vase and lid that is a Duncan product
